With Nateco’s recent commitment as a member of The Sustainable Furniture Council(visit their website @www.sustainablefurnishings.org) to develop furniture that is ecologically sound, and after painstakingly developing eco friendly furniture designs guided by these principles, Nateco is shortly be introducing the TRE line which will currently consist of a Chair and Ottoman. “TRE” is the Vietnamese word for bamboo where these pieces have been made. The exact location is on the border of Vietnam and Cambodia where this particular bamboo is grown.

Nateco is launching the best eco friendly bamboo furniture. Each unit has been handcrafted using bamboo and wood materials that adhere to the principal of sustainability. Aside from being eco friendly furniture, the use of bamboo in furniture is the perfect material to use because of its rapid growth and regeneration along with its durability.

In this case the bamboo used for the Tre Chair and Ottoman grows over 30 feet in one year! Though a known fact for years, the use of bamboo in furniture has been either limited or crude. It has been more associated with bamboo flooring. With the TRE Line, Nateco has added simple, attractive design elements to bamboo furniture. In the case of the TRE line each piece of bamboo and wood are first combined together with non toxic glue. The combined pieces of bamboo and wood are placed in a mould and then bent through a heat process. The end result is The Tre Chair and Ottoman, somewhat reminiscent of Charles and Ray Eames’ designs of bent plywood. It has taken several years along with many tests to develop this method of making furniture with bamboo and wood combined.

Having successfully developed this method, Nateco now intends to broaden this eco friendly furniture line even further by adding eco tables along with other eco chairs ! The designs have already been completed and is in the testing stage. All stains and any glue used in this product are certified as non-toxic. Only minor assembly is needed for the chair. The Tre Chair and Ottoman will be sold as a set only. The dimensions of the Tre Chair are  19w x 28d x 36”H  while the dimensions of the ottoman are 19w x 28d x 16”h. The chair and ottoman are packed together as a set and thereby sold only as a set.
